Valencia, 19 ene (EFE).- La banda neoyorquina Vampire Weekend, una de las más relevantes del panorama alternativo tras su aclamado debut de 2008, ha aceptado “encantada” la invitación del Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Chufa de Valencia para beber la horchata que da título a uno de los temas de su nuevo álbum.
“Horchata” es la canción que abre “Contra”, el recién editado segundo disco del cuarteto -conocido por adaptar los ritmos africanos al pop-rock actual- y una ocasión que el Consejo Regulador no ha querido desaprovechar para hacer aún más internacional la bebida más típica de Valencia.
Este organismo, tras conocer la existencia de este tema y su proyección a cargo de una de las bandas más famosas y seguidas del mundo “indie”, ofreció a sus integrantes degustar “la auténtica Horchata de Chufa de Valencia”, una invitación que los jóvenes músicos aceptaron “encantados”.
Así, el Consejo Regulador les hizo llegar hasta los Ángeles una muestra de horchata de chufa “como gesto de agradecimiento al interés que este grupo de jóvenes artistas han mostrado por este producto”.
Según las mismas fuentes, el Consejo Regulador aprovechará la próxima visita a España de Vampire Weekend (con sendos conciertos en Barcelona y Madrid) a finales de febrero para ofrecer a los miembros de la banda “degustar de nuevo la horchata”, término que repiten en varias ocasiones del tema con la frase “In december, drinking horchata” (bebiendo horchata en diciembre) y con el que riman otros como “balaclava” o “aranciata”.
